Was great until it broke - Eli - Athens, GA USA
This was an excellent DVD player for the 3 or 4 moths that it lasted. I bought it as a refurb and it performed beautifully for a while. Now it skips, freezes and has various other screw ups. I would strongly suggest that you not buy this or any similar DVD player from denon.

Sony CDPCX355 300-Disc MegaStorage CD Changer

Sony CDPCX355 300-Disc MegaStorage CD Changer Reviews

More Picture

I bought my first Sony Megachanger in 1998, and have purchased 6 or 7 more units since then. I've read the many reviews that talk of scratched discs, skipping songs, etc. In 12+ years of owning these units, I have NEVER had any of these problems with any of them. However, if you buy one, you MUST be sure that the unit sits absolutely level. I suspect many of the problems reported here might be traced back to this one issue. With the 300-disc and especially the 400-disc model, each individual CD slot is extremely narrow; if the unit is not sitting completely level, I can see the system attempting to return the just-played CD to an adjacent slot, which will definitely cause issues. Another tip: if a CD does not return to its proper slot and is caught somewhere in the carousel, or you attempted to move the unit and one or more CDs become dislodged, immediately disconnect the power, remove the cover by unscrewing 9 screws, and correct the problem this way; never attempt to turn the carousel when you know one or more CDs are dislodged. The CD(s) will be destroyed and the player may be permanently damaged. I currently have 4 units in my system (CX-450, CX-350, CX-355, and CX-455) connected to a PC using a SLINK-E, so I don't use the group or playlist functions on the units.br /br /Again, I was amazed to see so many people complaining of faults with these units. I've just never experienced any of the problems described in this forum.br /

My first one (400 disc vers) worked great for years - buying another hoping for the best! - Renie - Bennett, NC
I had the 400 disc version for many years - maybe 6, maybe more, I don't remember - then, alas, it finally started doing the 'carousel dance' that others have reported. so sad! but till that happened, I had absolutely no problems with it. maybe I was one of the lucky ones. At any rate, after reading all of the reviews on the Sony, and, other mega-changer cd players, I have decided to take another chance on the Sony for the following reasons: (but I will buy a SquareTrade warranty, too) 1) reviews of the Sony compared to the others - I think the Sony is better. I am not a big Sony fan, I think they are very much over-rated, but in this instance, they are the winner. 2) I have a large cd collection, and absolutely love the ease of listening to my cd's on this unit. I've thought about going to a smaller unit, but I get so much more enjoyment out of my cd's when they are loaded and ready to play, that I am willing to take a chance on the big beast. The biggest pain is entering all the data all over again, which should be automatic (but isn't). At least that's an option, which isn't for some of the others. Also, it looks as if Sony has stopped making these, so this may be my last chance to have one, and if I'm lucky and industrious, I'll have all of my cd's copied to a hard drive by the time this one gives up the ghost!

It works fine, level it - William J. Hindman - Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
I've had this thing for more years than I can remember now, maybe 6-7? Anyway, works fine and it plays 12 to 14 hours a day. Never lost a cd, never scratched a cd, does skip once in a while, but I put that down to dust and dirt inside the player. Add to that it is in Puerto Vallarta Mexico where the humidity is through the roof and most electronics last about one to two years if they are not kept in a climate controlled atmosphere. This is in a utility area of my house with washers, dryers etc and it's very humid in there. No air conditioning . And it is still plugging away. Just read your set up directions. br /br /I also have a Sony 50 CD player in another part of the house that is 12 years old. It is playing right now, plays all day, every day as well. One problem with a cracked lens on the laser four or five years ago, but that was my fault , it was on a piece of furniture that was used a lot , opening and closing doors and so I put the shaking down to the crack in the lens. Once again, read the set up directions-which I didn't do at that time. But still , a 75 dollar repair in 12 years was well worth it. br /br /I'm online now looking to purchase yet another one, so I'm obviously a satisfied customer.
